It's a long walk out and back, about 8kms total. Nice walk, smells funny at times... A flight path crosses overhead about 2kms out, depending which way the wind is blowing that day. Vertical panoramics are Hasselblad Xpan w/45mm lens and Ilford Delta 400. The other is a Horizon Perfekt with Lomography color print 100 asa. The horizon is a little off on the first one, but I still like it.
About 25 kms or a 150 peso cab ride from Valladolid, you will find the ruins of Ek' Balam.
It is one of the most recently excavated Maya sights in the Yucatan, apparently unearthed in 1997 or so.
There are still a lot of structures buried in the jungle, and you can still climb all over these ones. Noblex and Ektar film.
Pictures top to bottom:
1- The Acropolis from the bottom. Under the palapa roofs are amazing stucco sculptures.
2- The Twins with the steps to the Oval Palace and a lens flare.
3- Overview from the Oval Palace with the Entrance Arch, The Twins, part of the Ball Court and the Acropolis
4- Ball Court and a piece of one of The Twins
5- The tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok and the amazing stucco carvings, (hidden under the upper roof of the Acropolis)
Neat little town, definitely worth a visit.
We spent the day walking around looking at old churches and buildings before heading to Ek-Balam for the afternoon. I would go back, just to visit the local cenote and see some other historical buildings we missed. Plus the Cochinita Pibil was delicious.
Catedral de San Gervasio, Iglesia de Santa Ana, Calle 38 near 47, and Iglesia San Juan. Valladolid Mexico. Noblex.
Located 25 kms south of Tulum, these ruins have a less explored, less touristy vibe then some of the larger ruins in the area. Lots of piles of stones and unexcavated buildings hidden in the jungle. Behind El Castillo is a series of boardwalks through the jungle that lead to Laguna Muyil and boat tours of the Sian Kaan Biosphere. (for a price)
Top to Bottom: Plaza de la Entrada and Estructura 7H-3, Templo 8 (Estructura 9K-1), Estructura 8I-13 (El Castillo), Estructura 9K-23. Noblex Panoramics.
By midday it is overrun with tourists, and impossible to get a photo without someone taking a selfie right in the way.

Despite all of that, it is truly a magnificent place, worth visiting if you ever get the chance. Truly mind blowing.

Top to Bottom: Kukulkan Pyramid or "El Castillo", Temple of the Bearded Man, Tzompantli, and the Great Ball Court. Noblex Panoramics, about 930 am, before the tour buses arrive.

These were taken about 9 am, before the sun was full up, and before this place was completely overrun with tourists. I recommend visiting early.
Here's 5 of my favourites from my C41 pictures here.
Top to bottom: A wide overview of the main area, Temple of the Frescoes and Castillo, Temple of the Wind, House of the Chultun (with iguana!) and Temple of the Sea. Noblex Panoramics, Ektar 100 film.
Click on the photos to enlarge.

I've had a mild obsession with ancient ruins since seeing my dad's pictures of Chichen Itza years and years ago.

Indiana Jones can probably also be blamed for my amateur archaeologist tendencies. Anyhow...

Coba is home to Nohoch Mul, the tallest temple pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula. One of few you are still allowed to climb. Between 600-900 AD Coba was said to have had 50000 inhabitants and covered 80 square kilometres! Be sure to rent a bike if visiting as you have to cover a bit of ground to see all of the excavated sights. These are Noblex Panoramics shot on Ektar 100.

The top was my ride from Anchorage to TML2. The bottom was a skiplane from Judd Lake to the alpine somewhere where we saw these guys and their cool helicopter. Hopefully someday I can get back there. Horizon Panoramic camera and Lomochrome purple film.

It was described as "the world's first floating McDonalds," and built on False Creek for Expo 86.
It was towed to Maple Ridge in late December and will appear in 2016 as a new and improved, so far secret project. Perhaps the McCasino or McSports Bar?
The top photo is Lomochrome Purple film in a Horizon Perfekt, the bottom is B+W film in my Noblex.
Happy new years y'all.
The B+W are my Noblex, and the colour is a Horizon.
Several of these are examples of what happens when you tilt up with a swing lens: your horizon gets all bent outta shape. Whatever though, I still dig it.
pic 1: The view from near the top, rider's left ridge.
pic 2: Sender off of the end of the ridge on qualifying day. Pretty sure it's Graham Aggasiz.
pic 3: Axl Fostvedt shooting Phantom Flex of Cam Zink for Freeride Entertainment. Finals run.
pic 4: Graham Aggasiz again, but his first drop of his finals run.
pic 5: Sam Reynolds superman over the canyon gap. Didn't really nail the photo timing but it's still alright.
I wanted to get to Angel's Landing, but had to settle for the lower trails due to threat of rain and flash flooding. I did get up the Emerald Pools trail and the Canyon Overlook trail, just in time for rain and lightning. Not so good for pictures. Still fun.
I guess there's always next year... Horizon panoramics and maybe some B+W to follow...
Definitely worth a stop in, part way between Pemberton and Sloquet hot springs BC.
Shot on a Polaroid press camera, Polaroid 669 exp 2005. It got pretty dusty and dirty while drying, but I like it.
I like them more than anything I have shot lately, so why not share a few more? I'm still toying with the idea of a little photobook or some prints...
These grandstands are at the corner of Avenida de los Presidentes and the Malecon in Vedado, Cuba.
Between the blue fountains and the abandoned swimming pool, near the Calixto Garcia monument.
One wider view of the old seating area with a few locals playing baseball, and a closer, off-kilter tilted up version. Horizon.
It is a land based research station, that studies whales around the Johnstone Straight and the Inside Passage off of northern Vancouver Island. Paul conducted early research on communicating with whales in the 1960's, and moved to Hanson Island in 1970 to continue his studies of whales in the wild. I saw some incredible things from the observation deck that afternoon, and had a chance to walk around the bay a bit at low tide. Spinner.

I can't wait to go back.

Not the best scans, and a bit of a light leak on all three, but I still dig it.

Top: Avenida De Los Presidentes, just downhill from 23yG

Middle: Calixto Garcia Monument at Avenida De Los Presidentes and the Malecon

Bottom: Plaza Vieja, La Habana Cuba

Great vibes, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Friendly competition and no cash prizes.

I still attend every year, although I haven't raced for 3 or 4 years, at least. Hope to see you there.

Last year was a low snow year, so the racecourse was moved way uphill, as seen in picture 2.

Picture 1 is part of the crowd for Saturday's Legendary Baked Salmon feast at the Raven Hut.

Both were shot on reversal film, Horizon.
